Browser Permissions

CallerBooth needs microphone access to make calls.

Why?

Without microphone permission:

  • Other person can't hear you
  • Calls fail
  • You see an error

Granting Permission

First call attempt:

  1. Browser asks for mic access
  2. Click Allow
  3. Saved for future calls

WARNING

If you click Block, calls won't work. See below to fix.

Fixing Blocked Permissions

Chrome

  1. Click lock icon in address bar
  2. Find Microphone
  3. Change Block → Allow
  4. Reload

Or: chrome://settings/content/microphone → remove callerbooth.com from blocked list → reload

Firefox

  1. Click lock icon
  2. Connection secure → More information
  3. Permissions tab
  4. Find "Use the Microphone"
  5. Uncheck Block, check Allow
  6. Reload

Safari

  1. Safari → Preferences → Websites → Microphone
  2. Find callerbooth.com
  3. Set to Allow
  4. Reload

Edge

  1. Click lock icon
  2. Site permissions
  3. Microphone → Allow
  4. Reload

System Permissions

Your OS also controls mic access:

Windows

Settings → Privacy → Microphone → make sure browser is On

macOS

System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy → Microphone → check your browser

Common Errors

NotAllowedError You denied permission. Re-enable above.

NotFoundError No mic detected. Check it's plugged in and selected.

NotReadableError Another app is using your mic. Close Zoom, Teams, etc.

Testing

  1. Go to Home
  2. Look for "Ready" status
  3. If connected, mic is working

Multiple Mics

If you have several (built-in + external):

  • Check which is selected in system settings
  • Set correct one as default

FAQ

Keeps asking for permission? Private/incognito mode doesn't save permissions.

Allowed but still not working? Check system permissions and restart browser.

Can I use CallerBooth without a mic? No.
